With the 'Corporal Chae Special Prosecutor Act' being forcibly passed through the ruling party's unilateral processing, raising concerns that confrontational politics may continue into the 22nd National Assembly, Yoon Sang-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, criticized the opposition party for being "procedurally immature."
On the 3rd, Yoon said on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' regarding the plenary session held the previous day, "(The Democratic Party) suddenly submitted a proposal to change the agenda and forcibly passed it, so (cooperation) quickly broke down."
He stated, "No matter what external pressure on the investigation, it must be carried out," expressing the position that the truth must be uncovered regarding Corporal Chae's death in the line of duty. He continued, "The Corruption Investigation Office is conducting a fair investigation, but they say they don't trust it and want a special prosecutor again," adding, "I judge that procedurally, it is immature to go to a special prosecutor." He also mentioned Yoon Jae-ok, the acting party leader and floor leader.
Yoon criticized Hong Ik-pyo, the floor leader of the Democratic Party, who submitted the amendment and forcibly passed the special prosecutor bill, saying, "Floor Leader Yoon said that Speaker Kim Jin-pyo and Democratic Party Floor Leader Hong Ik-pyo deceived him." He added, "Through future consultations between the ruling and opposition parties, it might be discussed in the next National Assembly," and explained, "This agenda has been automatically submitted to the plenary session for about 30 days. For automatic submission, it needs to be 60 days, but if it reaches 60 days, the term of the 21st National Assembly will have ended. So they just submitted it."
He also said, "It seems Speaker Kim Jin-pyo was under a lot of pressure. There was also the controversy over Representative Park Ji-won's verbal abuse the day before," calling it "a very regrettable situation."
