Festival through performances by 8 top domestic choirs
Standing ovation from the entire audience after the joint concert
The 13th Gyeongsangnam-do Korea Choir Festival featuring performances by 8 teams was successfully held at 7 p.m. on the 2nd at Changwon Seongsan Art Hall.
Previously hosted by the Gyeongnam Christian Association, the Korea Choir Festival was transferred to a private organizing committee this year. The opening event, an invitational concert, captivated an audience of about 1,600 attendees with the high-level skills demonstrated by all teams.
The concert was attended by organizing committee chairman Gu Ja-cheon, Gyeongnam Provincial Deputy Governor Choi Man-rim, Changwon Special City Mayor Hong Nam-pyo, and Gyeongnam Newspaper CEO Lee Jong-bung.
Until last year, the event was hosted by Pastor Lee Chang-kyo of the Gyeongnam Christian Association and Pastor Lee Kyung-eun, representative of Gyeongnam Seongsi-hwa, along with heads of institutions, Christian officials, various social organizations, and people with disabilities, who filled the venue and enjoyed the concert for two hours.
The Gyeongnam Korea Choir Festival Organizing Committee opened the festival with performances by eight of the nation’s top choirs, including the Anyang City Boys and Girls Choir.
All eight teams showcased their unique vocal colors, demonstrating not only the musicality of choral singing but also the cultural purpose of communication and integration through their artistic talents.
In particular, performances by youth-centered members and senior groups such as the Men’s Qualification Youth Choir and the Korean Male Choir displayed high-level skills beyond age, receiving enthusiastic responses. After the final combined performance by all teams, the entire audience gave a standing ovation.
The Korea Choir Festival Organizing Committee plans to hold the Gyeongnam Choir Grand Night in the second half of the year, a special event for choir members in the province following this festival.
Supported specially by Gyeongnam Province and Changwon Special City, and funded by the private support alliance of the organizing committee, this year’s Gyeongsangnam-do Korea Choir Festival aims to develop Gyeongnam into a global choral city by transforming into a World Choir Festival starting next year.
Meanwhile, the choral population in various regions of Gyeongnam has greatly increased, with about 150 choirs and approximately 6,000 amateur choir members actively participating.
