Gyeonggi-do Provides Annual 240,000 KRW Transportation Support for Children and Adolescents Aged 6-18

Gyeonggi Province will provide an annual transportation allowance of 240,000 KRW for children and adolescents aged 6 to 18.

Gyeonggi Province will provide an annual transportation subsidy of 240,000 KRW to children and adolescents aged 6 to 18 residing in the province.

On the 3rd, Gyeonggi Province announced that starting from the 2nd, it began accepting applications for the "Gyeonggi Province Children and Youth Transportation Subsidy Project," which provides an annual subsidy of 240,000 KRW to children and adolescents not covered by the "The Gyeonggi Pass" program, which was implemented on the 1st.

The subsidy applies to transportation methods that use transportation cards by contact (tag) in metropolitan areas such as Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon, including city buses, intercity buses, subways, and GTX. However, transportation methods requiring separate ticket issuance, such as express buses, airport buses, and KTX, are not eligible for reimbursement.

Applications can be made through the Gyeonggi Province Children and Youth Transportation Subsidy Portal (www.gbuspb.kr). Applicants can use their existing transportation cards without issuing a new card. Once applied, the application will be automatically renewed through the 4th quarter within the same year.

Transportation expenses used from January to April 2024 will be processed under the existing youth transportation subsidy standards (ages 13 to 23) and will be accepted and paid through the existing youth transportation subsidy portal in July.

Kim Sang-su, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Transportation Bureau, said, "We hope that children and adolescents, who have been left out of transportation welfare benefits focused on adults such as the K-Pass and The Gyeonggi Pass, will be able to receive these benefits," adding, "We will strive to provide more transportation welfare benefits to the residents of Gyeonggi Province."
