Improvement of the Existing Method Requiring Prior Application... Freedom to Participate Anytime, Anywhere
Focus on Safety and Environmental Volunteer Activities Closely Related to Daily Life, Such as Alley Cleaning and Illegal Advertisement Removal
Submission of Photos and Reports After Activities... Volunteer Hours Recognized Up to 2 Hours Per Day
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is operating the "Our Neighborhood, Our Family Volunteer Service" for households with elementary, middle, and high school students as well as youth in the area.
The "Our Neighborhood, Our Family Volunteer Service" is an improved volunteer program that departs from the traditional method of pre-registration and certification, allowing participants to easily engage in volunteer activities anytime and anywhere in their daily lives.
Residents who wish to participate can choose one of the volunteer activities that are easy to find and solve in daily life: ▲ cleaning neighborhood alleys ▲ removing illegal advertisements ▲ creating posts about carbon neutrality practices ▲ shoveling snow in the neighborhood, and perform the activity at their preferred time.
The program will run until the end of the year. Volunteers who have completed the basic education on the Seoul Volunteer Education Platform (V-Class) can participate without prior registration by submitting certification photos and a result report after volunteering. Volunteer hours are recognized up to 2 hours per day.
In the future, Gwangjin-gu plans to provide various benefits, including recommending outstanding volunteers for citizen commendations.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "We operate the 'Our Neighborhood, Our Family Volunteer Service' program to inform youth about the value of volunteering in daily life," and added, "Gwangjin-gu will continue to do its best to create an atmosphere where various generations actively participate in volunteering."
