Rain Forecast on Children's Day, Venue Changed from Simin Sports Park to Yugwansun Gymnasium
Cheonan City in Chungnam Province has designated the period from the 4th to the 10th as "Cheonan Children's Happiness Week" to celebrate the 102nd Children's Day, and has prepared a variety of events.
Until now, the city held commemorative events only on Children's Day itself, but starting this year, it has expanded the scale and timing of the events to reflect the purpose of Children's Week as specified in the Child Welfare Act.
On the 4th, the family espionage musical "Codename X," a special performance for Children's Day, will be held at Bongseo Hall in City Hall.
The main event on Children's Day, "Let's Play Today! Let’s Play Cheonan," originally scheduled to take place at Citizen Sports Park, will be partially scaled down and held at the Yu Gwan-sun Gymnasium due to a nationwide rain forecast.
The commemorative events are organized into four themes: stage, play, experience, and special. The stage program will include children's musicals, bubble shows, and Taekwondo demonstration team performances.
Additionally, various career exploration programs such as magicians, models, and drone pilots are prepared. Special programs include an art contest and a Dancing Kids selection contest where children can showcase their talents. The winning artworks from the art contest will be exhibited in the lobby on the first floor of Cheonan City Hall from the 7th to the 10th, and the winning Dancing Kids team will perform on the stage of the "2024 K-Culture Expo."
Diverse events will also be held at the indoor facility, Kkumnuri Center. On the 5th, activities such as a children's graffiti mini-exhibition, pouch and children's ID making, and quick-drawing caricatures will be available.
On the 5th and 6th, at Heung Playground, programs such as blacklight graffiti experience and shadow play with hands and feet will be held.
Mayor Park Sang-don said, "We have planned the events together with children to realize and gift the Children's Day that they truly want," adding, "We have prepared events where children, the future protagonists, can safely enjoy themselves to the fullest, so we hope families will create many warm and joyful memories together, stepping away from their daily routines."
