"Daegu Cheongnyeon All Gather"... Dongseongno Festival Opens

The 35th Dongseongno Festival 2024, hosted by Jung-gu, Daegu, and organized by Dalseong Cultural Promotion Association (President Lee Junho), will be held from the 10th to the 12th throughout the Dongseongno area.


This year’s event will feature various performances centered around the main stage at Art Square in front of Daegu Department Store, and distinctive street events will take place in different sections from the former Jeil Bank Intersection to CGV Hanil, extending to the area around the former Jungang Police Box.

On the first day of the event, the 10th, booth zones and food truck zones will operate from noon, and stage events will run from 6 PM to 8 PM alongside the Powerfull Festival Eve.


The opening ceremony, starting at 2 PM on the 11th, will delight the audience with a pre-ceremony dance performance, a congratulatory performance by DIMF musical stars, a tin man mime performance, fantastic magic performances, and an 80s-90s disco youth night, providing visual and auditory enjoyment.


As for street events, from the 10th to the 12th, Booth Zone 1 (CGV Hanil to former Daegu Department Store) will offer beauty experiences, nail art, rattan crafts, and hairstyling. Zones 2 and 3 (McDonald’s to Dongseongno Tourist Information Center) will feature special exhibitions by renowned local artists, meal kit sales, employment and startup consultations, and various flea market booths, providing a diverse range of street experiences.


Additionally, on the 11th and 12th, the busking zones in front of Daiso on Dongseongno and the Dongseongno Tourist Information Center will host performances including aerophone and ocarina ensembles, saxophone and flute, acoustic guitar playing, dance and magic shows, and a national cocktail competition, creating a festive atmosphere that all visitors to Dongseongno can enjoy and participate in.


Notably, this year’s festival introduces a newly arranged food truck zone stretching from the former Jeil Bank Intersection to in front of Daiso on Dongseongno. The food truck zone will operate 12 trucks offering a variety of foods such as churros, yakisoba, tornado potatoes, fried chicken, Belgian fries, and pad thai, providing food culture experiences for foreigners, children, and adults alike, allowing visitors to enjoy food without burden.


Moreover, a Dongseongno store receipt event will be held. Visitors can exchange receipts (over 20,000 KRW) from purchases made at stores in the Dongseongno area during the festival on the 11th and 12th at the event booth for scratch lottery tickets (prizes include no win, 5,000 KRW, 10,000 KRW, and 15,000 KRW vouchers).


The prize money can be used until the 31st at participating Dongseongno businesses such as Lacoste, Patagonia, Puradak Chicken, Montblanc de Paris, and Dongseongno Tteokbokki.
