Geochang-gun Participates in Gyeongnam Province Agri-Fishery Products Export Consultation to Thailand, Signs $700,000 Agreement

Gyeongnam Governor and Geochang County Mayor Support Agricultural Food Export Companies in the Province

Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 2nd that it participated in the Gyeongsangnam-do Agricultural and Marine Products Export Consultation held in Bangkok, Thailand, promoting the excellence of Geochang agricultural products to local buyers and achieving an MOU signing worth 700,000 USD.


The export consultation was attended by 10 promising agricultural and marine product buyers from Thailand and 10 excellent export companies from Gyeongsangnam-do. Notably, Gyeongsangnam-do Governor Park Wan-su and Geochang County Governor Gu In-mo participated to actively support the entry of local export companies into the Thai market.

From Geochang-gun, the agricultural corporation DPN&S, which produces processed products from Yeoju, and the agricultural corporation Haneul Bio, which produces various types of bugak (traditional Korean fried seaweed snacks), participated and attracted significant interest from many buyers.


As a result of consultations, DPN&S signed an MOU worth 200,000 USD for Yeoju tea and Yeoju pills, and Haneul Bio signed an MOU worth 500,000 USD with the former Minister of the Ministry of Trade, totaling 700,000 USD in MOU agreements.


In addition, the county plans to actively seek market entry through various activities such as meetings with local buyers and local market research.


Governor Gu In-mo said, “I hope this export consultation will serve as a solid stepping stone for Geochang-gun and other export companies in the province aiming to expand their entry into the Thai market,” adding, “We will continue to promote various marketing events to expand export markets and promote the excellence of local export companies.”


Meanwhile, from April 29 to May 3, the county undertook a 5-day, 3-night business trip to develop sales channels for agricultural and marine products in Thailand and to recruit foreign workers from Vietnam. This trip, accompanied by the Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do, involved visits to two countries: Thailand and Vietnam.
