The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is promoting the enactment of an ordinance concerning the rights and responsibilities of school members.
The Office of Education announced on the 2nd that it has prepared a legislative plan for the enactment of the ordinance and will hold a discussion session on the 9th at the Gyeonggi Provincial Council's main conference room to explain the ordinance proposal and gather opinions.
This ordinance initiative was prepared to foster a school culture where students, faculty, staff, and guardians, as members of the school, recognize their rights and responsibilities and respect each other for the sake of school educational activities.
The ordinance includes provisions on ▲ the rights and responsibilities of students, faculty, staff, and guardians ▲ basic plans, training, surveys, and the formation and operation of related committees to promote rights and responsibilities ▲ operation of officers and advisory bodies for rights relief and conflict mediation.
Lim Tae-hee, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, stated, "This proposal was prepared as an alternative to move away from a dichotomous and confrontational perspective on student human rights and teachers' rights, aiming to create a school culture in the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education where all members are respected and honored."
The Office of Education plans to finalize the legislative bill by reflecting various opinions through consultations with related departments and legislative notice, and to have it approved by the Provincial Council in June for implementation in July.
