Youth Month Events Held Across Gangdong-gu in May

Kangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced that in celebration of Youth Month in May, on the 4th, commemorative events for children and youth will be held at seven youth facilities in the area, offering a variety of experiential programs.


On May 4th, at Cheonho Youth Culture House (Cheonjung-ro 61), the 'We Green Festival' will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., commemorating both Youth Month and the 2nd anniversary of the facility's opening.


The event will feature various performances and experiences that the whole family can enjoy together. On the 1st and 2nd floors, experience zones and event zones will offer upcycling activities using sock yarn and sea glass magnets, making your own eco-bag, and a recycling campaign. There will also be a talent show by residents and busking performances. On the 3rd floor, a flea market and food sharing area filled with food and attractions will be operated to enrich the event.


On the same day, Dunchon Youth Culture House (Jinhwangdo-ro 61-gil 25-23) will hold the 'Dangchan Day Youth Month Festival' from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Various experiences such as popcorn pen making and bookmark crafting will be prepared. For each experience, participants receive a stamp, and by presenting the stamps at the operation headquarters or the on-site caf? (1st floor Dangchan Caf?), they can receive balloons or snacks through a stamp event.


At Kangdong Youth Center located in Gangil-dong (Arisu-ro 93-gil 47), the 'Wakle Day' event will be held. Four themed experience zones?proper speech, communication harmony, environmental sharing, and food?will be set up. In particular, the profits generated from the food zone and the unmanned flea market will be donated to underprivileged children around the world.


Additionally, on other floors of Kangdong Youth Center, visitors can also explore experience booths operated by the Kangdong-gu Youth Counseling Welfare Center and the Youth Support Center. Diverse activities such as ▲pouch making ▲tuho throwing ▲tattoo sticker application ▲keyring making are available according to interests. The experiences and flea market at Kangdong Youth Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the 4th.


At the Kangdong-gu Child and Youth Future Headquarters located in Seongnae-dong (Seongnae-ro 13, Kangdong-gu), the 'Oh! Happy Day' event will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the 4th. Experience zones where participants can make keyrings and grip-toks, as well as an activity zone featuring rhythm action games (DDR), will be operated. Drinks and prize draws will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.


At the Kangdong Career and Job Experience Center (395 Gucheonmyeon-ro, 2nd floor of the Future Education Innovation Center, Kangdong-gu), programs for pre-registered youth will be held on the 4th, including ▲virtual reality (VR) experiences of future new jobs and safety education ▲sports climbing training. Even if you miss this session, applications for the June sessions will open on the 13th at 10 a.m. on the ‘Kangdong MiraeON (ON)’ website on a first-come, first-served basis.


In addition to events at youth facilities, the youth musical 'Finding Myself' will be performed on May 4th at 4 p.m. on the stage of Kangdong Art Center, hosted and organized by Kangdong-gu Office and Kangdong Cultural Foundation. The performance features youth who have trained in vocals, acting, and choreography for three months through the Kangdong-gu ‘Youth Musical Class,’ presenting a work that reflects the concerns of adolescence and career paths.


Mayor Lee Soo-hee of Kangdong-gu said, “To commemorate Youth Month in May, we have prepared events that children and youth in Kangdong-gu can all enjoy together. Since various events are held throughout Kangdong-gu, we hope residents visit nearby venues and create joyful memories with their families.”


Furthermore, the district is developing various policies and programs and building infrastructure to create a city where children and youth can grow up healthy, safe, and happy.
