Tourist-Led Plan on 'Like Bamboo Forests, Like Green' Theme Until the 15th
Rich Content Spanning Generations... Enhanced Night Events for a Colorful All-Day Experience
Korea's premier festival, the Damyang Bamboo Festival, will be held for five days from the 11th to the 15th with a rich lineup of programs.
According to Damyang County on the 1st, the Bamboo Festival, selected as an honorary cultural tourism festival by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, showcases various programs that allow the entire nation to appreciate the diverse values of bamboo. Every year, more than 500,000 tourists visit the festival site.
This year's Bamboo Festival, themed "Like a Bamboo Forest, Like Green," is planned as a tourist-driven festival where visitors can directly experience and enjoy activities at the outdoor stage in the Juknokwon area.
First, the main event stage has been moved from Chuseong Stadium to the parking lot of Jeonnam Provincial University, allowing tourists to enjoy performances while relaxing at food booths.
Around the main stage, over 30 food booths including Korean beef, youth startups, exhibition experiences, sales of agricultural specialties, and dessert exhibition and sales spaces will fill the festival grounds.
Additionally, to encourage tourists to enjoy the festival all day and stay an extra day, thereby linking the festival to residents' income, nighttime content has been enhanced.
For this purpose, Juknokwon will be open at night until 9 PM for the first time. In the Juknokwon area, wish lanterns, fairy lights, firefly lights, moving lights, a large moon photo zone, and floating lanterns will be installed to offer visitors a richer night view.
Furthermore, the Juknokwon admission ticket (3,000 KRW) will be refunded as a coupon to encourage spending in the local area, expected to invigorate the regional economy.
On May 11th, the opening day of the festival, starting at 11 AM with a performance by La Percussion, the festival opening will be announced with a parade featuring large avatars and performers. At 4:30 PM, a performance blending traditional Korean percussion groups and tourists will be held to mark the grand opening.
Following the opening ceremony, from 6 PM, celebratory performances by various singers such as Seol Woon-do, Kim Jong-kook, and So Chan-hwi, along with a drone show, will heat up the festival night.
On the following day, the 12th, the Damyang Hometown Love Trot Song Festival will take place, and from 6 PM, the festival's excitement will be further elevated with performances by the Kim Kyung-ho Band and an EDM party. On the 13th, a vocal trio and a spectacular fire show will be featured, and on the 14th, the Gugoksundam 100-Year Celebration and a solo escape program will be held at Juknokwon.
On the final day of the festival, the 15th, the event will conclude with the National Youth Talent Festival and closing performances by idol Cracksy and the SNS-famous Ijjana Eonjjana.
Lee Byung-no, the mayor of Damyang County, said, "We hope you create unforgettable memories in Damyang, filled with things to enjoy all day long, through the first-ever nighttime opening of Juknokwon, beautiful nightscapes that light up the night, lively performances, and hands-on programs."
