Obstruction of Official Duties Charge
The prosecution has indicted a current police officer belonging to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency without detention for assaulting police officers who responded to a report while intoxicated.
On the 1st, the 4th Criminal Division of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Seung-geol) announced that Mr. A was indicted without detention on charges of obstructing official duties.
On February 15, Mr. A assaulted two uniformed police officers who responded to a report of a drunken disturbance on a road in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, threatening to "cut their throats," knocking them to the ground, and kicking them.
A prosecution official stated, "This is a case where a current police officer obstructed the official duties of uniformed police officers, and we have responded strictly according to law and principles," adding, "We will make every effort to carry out the prosecution so that a sentence commensurate with the defendant's responsibility can be imposed."
