"Democratic Party Deeply Considering 'Han Dong-hoon Special Prosecutor Law'"
"President Yoon Should Also Accept Kim Gun-hee Special Prosecutor Law"
Jin Joong-kwon, a special professor at Kwangwoon University, compared the daughter of Han Dong-hoon, former Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, who is under suspicion of admission fraud, with Cho Min, the daughter of Cho Kuk, leader of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, stating that “Han’s daughter is actually good at studying and outstanding.”

Professor Jin appeared on the YouTube channel ‘Sisa Journal TV’ on the 30th of last month and commented on the ‘Han Dong-hoon Special Prosecutor Act’ that the Cho Kuk Innovation Party announced it would push for in the 22nd National Assembly. He predicted, “If the special prosecutor is pursued, it will only serve as an opportunity for Han’s political comeback and increase his political stature.” He added, “The Cho Kuk Innovation Party is pushing for the special prosecutor out of a sense of revenge regarding the investigation into Cho’s family, but the Democratic Party is unlikely to accept it easily,” and foresaw the current political situation, saying, “Within the Democratic Party, there seems to be concern that accepting it might only strengthen Han Dong-hoon.”
From Han’s perspective, he evaluated that “accepting it might not be a bad idea,” and said, “The allegations surrounding Han’s daughter are being raised, but Han’s daughter is different from Cho Min. She is actually good at studying and outstanding.”
Regarding the ‘Marine Corps Sergeant Chae Special Prosecutor Act’ being pushed by the Democratic Party and other opposition parties, he argued that President Yoon Suk-yeol should not avoid it. “President Yoon should show that he accepts (the special prosecutor),” he said, emphasizing, “Whichever side conducts a fair investigation is the political asset that made Prosecutor General Yoon Suk-yeol become president overnight. We must not forget this.”
Concerning the special prosecutor related to allegations of stock price manipulation involving First Lady Kim Keon-hee, he claimed, “There is nothing to find even if investigated, so the president can accept it.” However, he analyzed, “The Kim Keon-hee Special Prosecutor Act pushed by the opposition is not really about uncovering the truth but about humiliating the First Lady,” adding, “The police have already dropped the case, and among the 99 ‘jeonju’ (brokers) involved in the stock price manipulation allegations, only one person was indicted, who was later acquitted. There is nothing to come out of this case.”
Regarding criticism from some political circles that the summit meeting ended ‘empty-handed,’ he gave a mixed evaluation, saying, “Both President Yoon and Representative Lee got what they wanted.” He assessed, “Before the summit, Representative Lee’s position as leader of the main opposition party was shaken due to judicial risks. Especially in the Honam region during the general election, the Democratic Party’s support rate was lower than that of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party. At such a time, meeting President Yoon showed that ‘I am the national partner, not Cho Kuk.’” He also said, “President Yoon has somewhat shed his image of being uncommunicative,” and analyzed, “Especially with the emergence of a national partner, there is an effect of sharing political responsibility.”
