Cheon (River) · Trees · Flowers Trio... Dobong-gu Creates a Walkable Path Along Jungnangcheon

Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) created a "Walkable Path" along the embankment of Jungnangcheon Stream and held an opening ceremony on April 30.

At the opening ceremony, about 200 residents, including Dobong-gu Mayor Oh Eon-seok, gathered to celebrate the creation of the Jungnangcheon "Walkable Path."

The district carried out environmental maintenance work on the Jungnangcheon embankment and created a barefoot path approximately 1.7 km long from Nowon Bridge to Changdo Elementary School. The entire section is a loess soil path, and about 600 meters from Dobong Seowon Apartment Building 104 to Building 116 was made into a yellow soil path.

The yellow soil path was paved using a dry method mixing yellow soil and loess soil at a 6:4 ratio, while the loess soil path was constructed by laying natural loess soil and compacting it.

A district official said, "If you want to feel the original texture of yellow soil, we recommend the yellow soil path, and if you want to experience the acupressure effect on the soles of your feet, the loess soil path is recommended."

The district paid special attention to harmonizing the path with the natural environment unique to Jungnangcheon. Along the path, various trees such as king cherry and cornelian cherry, as well as flowers like golden aster and poppies, were planted to create a beautiful surrounding landscape.

At night, 50 lights illuminating the trees and flowers were installed to enhance their glow, and 51 'ㄱ'-shaped lights were placed along the path to create a light tunnel.

Convenience facilities were also well provided. Along the path, sitting walls, resting pavilions, and deck roads were installed, and foot washing stations were set up at the start and end points.

Dobong-gu Mayor Oh Eon-seok said, "Walking while looking at the different appearances of Jungnangcheon in each season is truly a happy moment," and added, "I hope many people visit the Jungnangcheon 'Walkable Path' to experience this feeling."
