Daejeon City announced that it has secured 8.7 billion KRW in national funding after being selected for the Ministry of Science and ICT's 'Smart Logistics Technology Demonstration' project.
This project will invest a total of 21.8 billion KRW over three years from 2024 to 2026, including 8.7 billion KRW in national funds, 8.7 billion KRW in city funds, and 4.4 billion KRW in private sector contributions.
The Daejeon Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency will lead the project, with participation from local companies related to smart logistics such as ICT and robotics. The Korea Post Headquarters will collaborate as a partner institution to support logistics data collection and utilization, as well as on-site demonstration of developed technologies.
The main project involves building a logistics data platform and using it to discover and develop new smart logistics services. The data platform and new services will first be demonstrated at the Central Regional Postal Logistics Center, which handles 25% of the nation's public parcel volume, before being expanded to private large and small logistics companies.
Han Seon-hee, Director of Strategic Project Promotion at Daejeon City, said, “Through this project, we expect the working environment for logistics workers to improve and for citizens and industries to enjoy high-quality logistics services. We will actively support Daejeon companies to lead the smart logistics industry.”
