Record High Participation This Year with 13,102 Participants
Hapcheon County in Gyeongnam announced on the 1st that it held the evaluation report meeting for the 23rd Hapcheon Cherry Blossom Marathon at the main conference room of Hapcheon Public Stadium.
The evaluation report meeting was attended by about 50 people, including County Governor Kim Yoon-cheol, Chairman of the County Sports Council Yoo Dal-hyung, Provincial Assembly member Jang Jin-young, Vice Chairman of the County Council Seong Jong-tae, heads of local institutions and social organizations, marathon operation headquarters committee members, and volunteers. The meeting proceeded in the order of ▲national ceremony ▲presentation of appreciation plaques and commendation plaques ▲greetings ▲evaluation report ▲other discussions.
The event headquarters reported that following last year's record number of participants, this year also saw a record high of 13,102 participants.
In particular, the proportion of participants from outside the county was higher than that of local participants, and the number of participants in events over 10km increased by 15% compared to last year. Additionally, participants from the Seoul metropolitan area and Jeolla Province increased significantly, confirming the event's status as a nationally prestigious marathon.
Moreover, despite the large number of participants, the event concluded safely without any accidents. The free tasting of local specialties such as Hapcheon Hwangto Hanwoo beef and pork, along with prize draws, was positively evaluated for promoting regional agricultural products widely.
To address last year's shortcomings, this year a comprehensive situation room was established, composed of police, fire department, safety management departments, and the event headquarters, enabling faster response in case of emergencies, which was also highly praised.
Governor Kim Yoon-cheol said, “With a record high participation of 13,102 people, the event was completed safely without a single accident and received high praise from participants under warm weather. We will reflect on the opinions shared today and continue to strive to make the event even better in the future.”
