Support for Exam Fees for Over 900 Language and Certification Tests for Unemployed Youth (Aged 19-39)
Up to 100,000 KRW Annually with No Limit on Number of Exams Taken After January 1
District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon: "We Will Provide Youth-Centered Welfare in Employment, Startups, and Housing to Be a Strong Ally for Young People"
Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that starting May 1, it will support language and national qualification exam fees to alleviate the economic burden on job-seeking youth and enhance their employment competitiveness.
In particular, with rising prices causing various exam fees to increase, job seekers are facing growing difficulties.
To encourage the self-development motivation of these job-preparing youth and support their new challenges, the district is newly implementing the ‘Language and National Qualification Exam Fee Support’ program this year. This aims to provide equal employment opportunities to the youth, who make up 34% of Yeongdeungpo residents, and to support a hopeful future.
Any unemployed youth aged 19 to 39 (born between 1985 and 2005) who have been registered residents of the district for more than one month as of the application date can apply. Eligible exams for fee support include various language tests in seven languages including English, national technical qualifications, national professional certifications, the Korean History Proficiency Test, and about 900 other types conducted since January 1 of this year. Nationally certified private qualifications registered in the Private Qualification Information Service are also eligible.
The support amount is up to 100,000 KRW per person annually. If the exam fee is less than 100,000 KRW, additional applications can be made up to the remaining limit. However, those receiving support through Seoul City Youth Allowance, the National Employment Support System, or overlapping support from other local governments are excluded.
Applications can be submitted until December via the district website’s ‘Youth National Qualification Exam Fee Support’ bulletin board by filling out the application form and consent form for personal information collection and use, then scanning and uploading required documents such as the resident registration certificate.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “I hope this project will help youth get closer to their dreamed goals,” and added, “We will provide youth-centered welfare not only for employment but also for start-ups and housing, making Yeongdeungpo a reliable supporter for young people.”
