21 Events Featuring 590 Athletes Participating
Yeongcheon City in Gyeongbuk Province, together with the Yeongcheon City Sports Council, held a send-off ceremony for the athletes participating in the '62nd Gyeongbuk Provincial Sports Festival' at the Yeongcheon Gymnasium on the 29th.
The ceremony was attended by about 200 people, including Mayor Choi Ki-moon of Yeongcheon, City Council Chairman Ha Gi-tae, the Superintendent of Education, provincial and city council members, the president and vice president of the Sports Council, heads of the town and township sports councils, representatives of participating sports organizations, and athletes.
This year's Gyeongbuk Provincial Sports Festival will be held in Gumi City and will take place over four days from May 10th to 13th, starting with the opening ceremony on May 10th under the slogan "New Hope in Gumi, the Power of United Gyeongbuk."
Yeongcheon City will participate with 590 people (440 athletes and 150 officials) across 21 sports.
Mayor Choi Ki-moon said, "I hope that the athletes will fully demonstrate the skills they have honed in training and compete without regrets, elevating the honor and prestige of Yeongcheon. All citizens will support you with one heart."
