"I am the real dad"... Man who approached 15-year-old female singer receives probation for stalking charges

A man in his 60s who was prosecuted for excessive approach behavior (stalking), claiming to be the biological father of 15-year-old trot singer Oh Yujin, was sentenced to probation.

The Criminal Division 3 of Jinju Branch, Changwon District Court in Gyeongnam, on the 30th, sentenced Mr. A, in his 60s, who was accused of stalking teenage singer Oh Yujin and her family, to 8 months in prison with 2 years of probation.

He was also ordered to attend 40 hours of stalking prevention lectures and to stay away from the victim.

Earlier, the prosecution viewed the crime committed against the young victim as serious and requested a 1-year prison sentence along with completion of a stalking treatment program.

Born in 2009, Oh Yujin debuted in July 2021 with a single album and gained recognition through TV programs such as ‘Trot National Competition’ and ‘After School Excitement’. She ranked 3rd in ‘Miss Trot 3’, which ended last March.

Mr. A was indicted for visiting the school attended by trot singer Oh Yujin from May to November last year, claiming she was his daughter.

He repeatedly called Oh’s maternal grandmother demanding meetings and posted about 50 to 60 comments on social media and the internet, including phrases like “Where are the biological parents?”

The court stated, “The incident occurred because Mr. A perceived the victim as his daughter without reasonable grounds,” and added, “Considering his lack of remorse and the victim’s mental distress, the sentence is determined accordingly.”
