Pro-Palestinian protests that began on American college campuses are spreading to universities in Europe, Canada, Australia, and other countries.

According to AP News and Al Jazeera on the 30th (local time), anti-war demonstrations against the Gaza Strip conflict, reignited mainly on the East Coast of the United States, are spreading to over 50 university campuses worldwide, including in Europe, Canada, and Australia.

At Columbia University in New York, some students staged a surprise occupation of campus buildings early in the morning after suspensions began for protesters who refused to disperse voluntarily. This university is considered the epicenter of the protests.

The previous day, around 40 protesters attempting a tent sit-in at the University of Texas at Austin campus were arrested by police. In the United States, the number of people arrested in connection with the protests has exceeded 1,000.

At the University of Southern California (USC), the main stage event for the graduation ceremony scheduled for the 10th of next month was canceled due to the protest issues.

At Sciences Po Paris, a prestigious political university in France, hundreds of people took to the streets, and at the University of Paris Sorbonne, dozens of students pitched tents on campus and began a sit-in.

In the United Kingdom, protests continue on the campuses of the University of Leeds, University College London, and the University of Warwick. Demonstrations condemning Israel’s airstrikes on the Gaza Strip are also underway at Sapienza University in Italy, the University of Sydney in Australia, and several universities in Canada.
