Shin Mo, the so-called 'Rolls-Royce Man' who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for driving a Rolls-Royce vehicle under the influence of narcotics and causing the death of a woman in her 20s, has been additionally indicted on charges of habitual use of propofol and other drugs.

On the 30th, the Violent Crime Investigation Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Yeon-sil) announced that Shin was non-detained indicted the day before on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic substances) and the Resident Registration Act.

Shin is accused of habitually using propofol and other sedative anesthetics a total of 57 times through so-called 'hospital shopping' at 14 clinics from June 2022 to August last year. Additionally, he is charged with identity theft during this process.

Previously, Shin was sentenced to 20 years in prison in the first trial on January 24 for the incident in which he hit and killed a woman in her 20s in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The appeal trial is currently underway.

Doctor A, who administered propofol and other sedative anesthetics to Shin for non-medical purposes, has also been indicted and is currently undergoing a first trial while in custody on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic substances) and the Medical Service Act.

A prosecution official stated, "We will make every effort to maintain the prosecution so that the defendant receives a sentence corresponding to the crime, and will continue to apply a zero-tolerance policy and respond strictly to illegal handling of medical narcotics. In particular, in cases where additional damage has occurred due to the misuse of medical narcotics, the prosecution and police will jointly investigate through the Narcotics Investigation Working Group to thoroughly clarify the responsibility."
