On the 30th, the Songchon Water Purification Plant of the Daejeon Metropolitan City Waterworks Headquarters conducted a simulated training exercise to prepare for chlorine gas leaks in accordance with the 2024 National Core Infrastructure Protection Plan.
The training was carried out jointly with the Songchon 119 Safety Center and the Water Quality Research Institute, simulating a complex disaster scenario involving chlorine gas leaks and fires caused by an earthquake to enhance response capabilities.
The exercise included rapid and accurate situation reporting, establishment of on-site response systems, strengthening of initial response capabilities and cooperation systems, as well as swift rescue, first aid, and fire suppression.
Lee Ji-seon, head of the Songchon Water Purification Plant, stated, “It is important to gain training experience for quick response in disaster situations,” adding, “We will do our best to ensure uninterrupted water supply even during disasters through continuous training.”
