The police have launched an investigation after a report was filed that a customer who received an expensive treatment at a beauty salon disappeared without paying.


On the 30th, the Wonmi Police Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, announced that on the 6th, they received a report from A, the owner of a one-person beauty salon in Wonmi-gu, stating, "A customer disappeared without paying after receiving a beauty treatment."

A said, "The customer who received the treatment left saying, 'My salary will be deposited in two hours, and I will transfer the money immediately,' but then all contact was lost. When I called, I got a message saying 'the number is out of service.'" The police identified the runaway customer as a man in his 30s named B and are tracking him down.


B is known to have received a hair extension treatment and purchased related products at the salon around 10 a.m. on the 5th. The total cost was approximately 560,000 won, and B disappeared without paying. It was confirmed that B had visited the same salon several times before and had paid in full on those occasions.


A police official stated, "B is believed not to be living at his registered address. We have obtained an arrest warrant and plan to track him down. Once apprehended, he will be investigated further and charged with fraud."


Meanwhile, cases of so-called "eoljuka"?customers fleeing without paying after receiving treatments at beauty salons?are continuing, prompting calls for caution.


On the 9th, a man in his 20s caused controversy by receiving a bleaching treatment at a beauty salon and refusing to pay, citing financial difficulties. This customer handed the stylist a note saying, "I am 22 years old and an aspiring writer, but I am currently struggling financially and have no money. When I succeed and earn a lot later, I will definitely repay your kindness," before fleeing the store.
