The Presidential Committee on Ageing Society and Population Policy (APPC), chaired by Choi Seul-gi, the co-chair of the consultative body and standing member, held the 2nd meeting of the public-private consultative body on low birthrate response with economic organizations.
In this meeting, economic organizations and the government discussed preparations for a memorandum of understanding and a declaration of practice, as well as a corporate survey, certification and award systems related to work-family balance, and the operation manual for work-family balance systems.
The corporate survey is being conducted by the Korea Federation of SMEs, analyzing awareness and utilization of work-family balance systems among about 300 small and medium-sized enterprises.
At this meeting, the interim results of the survey were shared, and opinions on system improvements reflecting the management field of SMEs were exchanged. There was also time to share experiences and difficulties felt in the field regarding the long-standing corporate certification and award systems. Discussions were held on the direction of drafting a manual containing usage guidelines tailored to company characteristics to promote work-family balance systems and establish these systems and culture within companies.
The committee announced that it plans to hold regular monthly meetings to continue collaboration between the economic sector and related government ministries.
