The training was conducted in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, an international tourist city, simulating emergency situations such as a drone-based booth explosion at an international sports event, unknown liquid spraying, and discovery of suspicious objects suspected to be additional explosives or chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) terrorism materials, with response drills carried out by each institution.
Daedong Hospital sent a total of seven personnel including anesthesiology and pain medicine specialist Dr. Park Ju-yeon, emergency medicine specialist and department head Bae Byung-kwan, nurses, radiologists, and administrative staff to train emergency treatment for people exposed to radiation in accordance with the radiation contamination patient emergency medical system.
Dr. Bae Byung-kwan, head of the Regional Emergency Medical Center at Daedong Hospital (emergency medicine specialist), said, "Through emergency treatment training for multiple patients complaining of trauma, dizziness, respiratory distress, and palpitations amid the chaos caused by radiation terrorism, we were able to assess our emergency medical capabilities. Busan, also an international tourist city, had a valuable opportunity through this training to prepare for potential threats and enhance safety and response capabilities for local residents and tourists."
Daedong Hospital, as a radiation emergency medical institution designated by the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission, actively participates in education and training every year to improve its response capabilities.
