Anseong City's Urban Wind Path Forest Creation Project was selected in the 2021 public contest hosted by the Korea Forest Service. The city plans to create urban wind path forests throughout the city by next year, investing a total of 20 billion KRW, including 10 billion KRW from the national government and 10 billion KRW from the city budget.
This year, the city will first promote wind path forests at four locations: Dangwang Intersection traffic island, Aronggae Culture Park, Jungang University Road, and Ayang Road. Then, by next year, the wind path forests will be sequentially expanded to Geumseok Stream, Seungdu Stream, Seodong Boulevard, and Gongdo KCC·Blooming Apartments.
Kim Bora, mayor of Anseong City, said, "Through the creation of this urban wind path forest, we will work to alleviate heat waves and fine dust generated in the city."
