Dongmyung University (President Jeon Ho-hwan) College of Companion Animals (Dean Kim Su-jin) recently participated as the only university nationwide with a department related to companion animals in the 4th Changwon Companion Animal and Plant Culture Festival.
The Department of Companion Animal Health at Dongmyung University’s College of Companion Animals operated a booth for making aroma hygiene disinfectants, while the Department of Dog Grooming and Behavior Correction (Department Head Kwak Jin-sook) ran a companion dog behavior correction counseling booth. Behavior correction counseling (Guest Professor Yoon Yong-beom) provided consultations on various concerns arising from raising companion dogs.
The 4th Changwon Companion Animal and Plant Culture Festival was held on April 27 at Changwon Yongji Cultural Park.
The festival aimed to enhance animal protection welfare and respect for life awareness, and was an event where all citizens?including pet owners, companion animals, and non-pet owners?could participate together. In addition to companion animals, companion plant experience booths were also operated.
The pet talk show was hosted by cat behavior expert veterinarian Kim Myung-chul and pet etiquette talk show director Lee Woong-jong.
Dongmyung University’s College of Companion Animals was established in 2023 as the nation’s first dedicated college for companion animals. It currently operates the Department of Companion Animal Health, the Department of Dog Grooming and Behavior Correction, and the Department of Companion Animal Industry (with majors in Pet Food and Companion Animal Industrial Design).
