Boryeong City Appoints Chief Architect to Implement Public Architecture Projects Addressing Population Decline and Aging
Professor Park Jong-gi of the Department of Architecture at Soonchunhyang University announced on the 30th that he received the Muae (Lee Kwang-no) Architecture Award from the Architectural Institute of Korea.
The Muae (Lee Kwang-no) Architecture Award is given to young talents (under 49 years old) who have achieved outstanding results and academic contributions in the field of architectural planning and design. Professor Park was selected as the recipient at the "2024 Architectural Institute of Korea Annual General Meeting and Spring Academic Presentation Conference."
Professor Park has worked on various projects as an architect and urban designer in Korea, China, and Germany. Recently, he devoted himself to public architecture projects addressing population decline and aging as the chief architect of Boryeong City.
Additionally, he is actively engaged as the chief architect of Boryeong City, vice president of the Korean Architectural Design Association, senior deputy director of the Chungnam Urban Architecture Research Institute, technical advisory member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Architectural Advisory Committee, expert member of the Cultural Heritage Administration Cultural Heritage Committee, member of the Chungcheongnam-do Architectural Landscape Committee, and advisory member of the National Museum Complex under the Happy City Agency.
Professor Park Jong-gi said, "It is a great honor to receive the Muae (Lee Kwang-no) Architecture Award," adding, "I hope to contribute to the development of Korea's architectural culture with a more humble attitude and heart in the future."
