Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 30th that starting from July, the existing 'Children's Meal Management Support Center' will be integrated and operated as the 'Children and Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center.'
The city explained that this integrated operation is in accordance with the enforcement of the 'Act on Support for Meal Safety in Social Welfare Facilities for the Elderly and Disabled.' Accordingly, from July, the center's support targets will be expanded beyond the existing children's meal sites to include 'small-scale social welfare facilities within the jurisdiction that provide meals to facility residents and have fewer than 50 residents without a nutritionist.'
The city plans to provide systematic meal management support to social welfare facilities registered with the center, such as elderly welfare facilities and facilities for the disabled, including ▲ customized meal plans ▲ provision of dietary information ▲ periodic visits and guidance by professional nutritionists ▲ dietary education tailored to each target group.
Previously, on the 29th and 30th, the city held an explanatory session at the Hwaseong Senior Club located in Bongdam-eup for about 100 social welfare facility operators in the region regarding the integrated operation of the center.
Song Kyung-su, Director of the Hwaseong City Hygiene Policy Division, said, "Through the newly established center, we will actively support meal sites in small-scale social welfare facilities to ensure that safe and hygienic meals are provided to vulnerable groups."
Facilities wishing to register with the center can contact the Hwaseong City Children and Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center.
