Mokpo Coast Guard Holds Weather Education and Meeting for Civilian Marine Rescue Teams

Establishing Rapid Response System for Maritime Accidents

Mokpo Coast Guard Station (Chief Kwon Oh-seong) announced on the 30th that it held a weather education session and a meeting for local private marine rescue teams on the 29th at the 5th-floor auditorium of the Mokpo Coast Guard Station.

The Mokpo Coast Guard promoted this education and meeting to expand understanding of marine weather information through education on the use of marine weather information and collecting opinions from private marine rescue teams, aiming to establish a cooperative system for rapid response in case of marine accidents.


About 40 people participated in the education and meeting, including approximately 35 members of local private marine rescue teams and 3 officials from the Korea Meteorological Administration. The session covered △ training on how to use the marine weather information portal △ sharing plans to activate private forces and strengthen rescue and salvage activities linked with rescue associations, followed by listening to field difficulties and suggestions from private marine rescue team members.


A representative of the Mokpo Coast Guard stated, “We will actively utilize marine weather information in responding to marine accidents and promote information sharing to maintain a swift and smooth working system with private marine rescue teams.”
