LG Electronics Demonstrates 'Robot and Metaverse Technologies' at Top AI Conference

Entered top 5% with two papers at ICLR

LG Electronics demonstrated its technological leadership as a paper it presented at the world's most prestigious artificial intelligence (AI) conference, the International Conference on Learning Representations (ICLR) 2024, ranked in the top 1% overall.

ICLR is one of the "Top 3 Global AI Conferences" in the engineering & computer science field announced by Google Scholar. This conference selects outstanding papers every year. The acceptance rate for ICLR papers is only about 25%, making it highly competitive. This year, it was held from May 7 to 11 at the Vienna Exhibition and Conference Center in Austria.

At this conference, LG Electronics unveiled its AI technology that improves spatial recognition accuracy (DiffMatch: Diffusion Model for Dense Matching). This research paper was also selected for an oral presentation. Oral presentations are given only to research papers that rank within the top 1% of all submissions to the conference.

Additionally, the core metaverse technology based on 2D image-based 3D spatial reconstruction (H2O-SDF Two-Phase Learning for 3D Indoor Reconstruction using Object Surface Fields) was selected as a top 5% paper at ICLR 2024, marking an achievement where all research results from domestic companies participating in the conference were registered as top-tier papers.

Byung-hoon Kim, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of LG Electronics, said, "We will apply LG Electronics’ globally recognized AI technology capabilities to products and services to make customers' lives more convenient and enjoyable in various areas, from everyday life to future virtual spaces."

Meanwhile, LG Electronics is also working to secure global AI talent during the conference. It will share the latest AI technology status of LG Electronics and conduct recruitment consultations with master's and doctoral students attending the conference. Last year, LG Electronics recruited capable AI researchers through hiring activities at global AI conferences.
