Chairman of Korea Textile Development Institute, Jeon Yonghwan Appointed as CEO of Dongheung Trading

"We Will Create Researchers Trusted and Sought After by Companies"

Jeon Yong-hwan, CEO of Dongheung Trading, was inaugurated as the 14th Chairman of the Korea Textile Development Institute on the 29th.


In February, the former chairman Shin Hyun-bu resigned due to health reasons. Following this, the Korea Textile Development Institute searched for a successor through the Chairman Recommendation Committee, and after discussions, the board unanimously elected Jeon Yong-hwan, CEO of Dongheung Trading, at the meeting held on the 23rd. The new chairman's term will last until May 24, 2026, covering the remaining two years of the former chairman's term.

Chairman Jeon graduated from the Textile Department of Kyungil University and, based on over ten years of experience working in textile companies, founded Dongheung Trading in 1993 and has led it ever since as a professional textile executive. He is also actively involved in the local textile industry as a director and auditor of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Textile Fabric Industry Cooperative and as a director of the Korea Textile Marketing Center.


In his inaugural speech, Chairman Jeon said, “I feel a heavy responsibility taking on the chairmanship during a very difficult time for the textile industry. I will do my best to support the stabilization of the institute’s management and to establish an organic support system between the institute and companies so that the institute can become a trusted and sought-after research center by businesses.”
