May 2nd Love Card and Love Gift Certificate 7% Discount Recharge Anytime
Monthly Purchase Limit Increased to 700,000 KRW, Holding Limit Increased to 1,000,000 KRW
To celebrate Family Month, Pohang City will issue 17 billion KRW worth of Pohang Love Cards and mobile Pohang Love Gift Certificates on the 2nd of next month, starting a continuous 7% discount sale throughout May, while raising the individual purchase and holding limits.
This May sale will begin at 12:15 AM on the 2nd, as May 1st, Labor Day, is a holiday for financial institutions.
Additionally, to ease the economic burden on citizens and promote consumption, the combined purchase limit for Pohang Love Cards and mobile Pohang Love Gift Certificates will be raised from the previous 500,000 KRW per month to 700,000 KRW, and the holding limit will be increased from 700,000 KRW to 1,000,000 KRW during the discount sale. However, paper-type certificates will not be sold during this discount sale.
The Pohang Love Card can be issued as a physical card through the mobile app (IM Shop) or authorized financial institutions, then registered, charged, and used. The mobile Pohang Love Gift Certificate can be issued immediately without a physical card via the mobile app (IM Shop), then registered, charged, and used.
The Pohang Love Card can be charged starting at 12:15 AM on the 2nd via the mobile app (IM Shop), and at 104 authorized sales points (including Daegu Bank, local agricultural, livestock and fisheries cooperatives, Saemaeul Geumgo, credit unions, and the Forestry Cooperative), as well as at 49 ATMs and self-service counters during business hours.
Also, the mobile Pohang Love Gift Certificate can be issued and registered from 12:15 AM via the mobile app (IM Shop), with charging available only through the mobile app (IM Shop).
Since January this year, the city has issued Pohang Love Gift Certificates monthly, totaling 76 billion KRW by April. Since the issuance began in 2017, the cumulative amount of Pohang Love Gift Certificates issued has reached 2.0535 trillion KRW.
The Pohang Love Gift Certificate plays a significant role in preventing the outflow of local funds and contributing to increased sales for small business owners, thereby leading a virtuous cycle of regional economic growth.
Furthermore, on April 1st, the city launched the mobile Pohang Love Gift Certificate without a physical form, making it convenient for both citizens and tourists visiting the region to use the gift certificates.
Along with this, the city is focusing administrative efforts on extending the operation of merchant supporters until July to secure new affiliated stores and QR code affiliated stores in densely populated shopping areas and major tourist spots within the region, enabling citizens to conveniently use Pohang Love Gift Certificates across various industries.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, “I hope the issuance of Pohang Love Gift Certificates will help increase sales for small business owners through promoting local consumption,” and added, “We will continue to implement various policies to enable citizens and small business owners to coexist and revitalize the local economy.”
