On the 29th, Lee Byung-chul, attorney at Chan Jong Law Firm and legal representative of Jeonui Gyohyeop and the Korean Association of Medical College and Medical School Students, stated this in a press release. Attorney Lee said, "The submission of resignation letters by medical school professors is a public interest act aimed at urging correction of medical manipulation and protecting patients' lives," adding, "This is not collective action but the minimum individual act to protect the life and health rights of professors who have reached their physical limits."
He continued, "It is a lawful act under criminal law, and the act of submitting resignation letters neither constitutes grounds for criminal punishment nor disciplinary action."
He also announced plans to sue Park Min-su, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, who stated that punishments of up to one year imprisonment are being considered. He said, "We plan to file a lawsuit seeking damages in the hundreds of billions of Korean won for charges including threats, coercion, insult, and defamation against those who, without knowing the law, shoot themselves in the foot," adding, "We will later expand the scale of the damages lawsuit to the trillion won level and proceed with the litigation."
