Lee Jun-seok "Difficult to Cooperate with People Power Party When Yoon's Key Faction Member Is Floor Leader"

Lee Jun-seok, leader of the Reform New Party, stated on the 29th regarding the strong mention of Rep. Lee Cheol-gyu, a key figure in the pro-Yoon Seok-yeol faction, as the next floor leader of the People Power Party, "If a 'Yoon Core' floor leader emerges, cooperation within the National Assembly with the People Power Party will be difficult."

At the Reform New Party's Supreme Council meeting that day, Lee said, "'If a 'Yoon Core' becomes the floor leader, it is a direct backlash against the people's judgment and an expression of the will to become a branch office of Yongsan in the legislative process.'

He added, "It seems that the ruling party, despite losing the election, is only watching the president's mood and trying to install an unreasonable figure in the leadership," and "Although it is a political convention not to interfere in other parties' leadership elections, at this moment when even a slight link of cooperation should be established, there are rumors that so-called Yoon Core or pro-Yoon figures are trying to run for major party positions and the floor leader election, which I must point out."

Lee emphasized, "Now that the people have wielded the whip to drive out Eom Seok-dae from the novel 'Our Twisted Hero,' have the courage to break free from Eom Seok-dae's oppression."

Regarding the People Power Party's appointment of former Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs Hwang Woo-yeo as the new emergency committee chairman, Lee said, "I personally like him because he is a person of excellent character," but also evaluated, "It is regrettable that I do not know what the People Power Party has realized, felt, and thought it must change after the last general election defeat."

About the meeting scheduled this afternoon between President Yoon Seok-yeol and Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, he said, "At least on issues like the 'Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act,' I hope the two leaders reach an agreement in the direction the people desire," and "I hope the two leaders handle matters properly without collusion."
