EM Heukgong Throwing Volunteer Activity 진행
Geumcheon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced on the 29th that it conducted the "Effective Micro-organisms (EM) Mud Ball Throwing Volunteer Activity," an environmental cleanup event for Anyangcheon, together with Coway on the 27th.
The "Effective Micro-organisms Mud Ball" is made by kneading a microbial fermentation solution with loess soil. When these mud balls are thrown into rivers or streams, they gradually purify the water quality and eliminate odors, helping to restore the ecosystem.
This Anyangcheon environmental cleanup activity was a family-participation event with a total of 30 Coway employees and their families taking part. Participants gathered at the multipurpose plaza in the morning to make 1,500 mud balls by hand and threw 1,500 previously made mud balls into Anyangcheon.
The volunteers donated the 1,500 mud balls they made to the "EM Life Sharing Movement." The donated mud balls will undergo a fermentation period of more than three weeks and will be used in the next volunteer activity.
The mud ball throwing volunteer activity is the third event following two activities held in the first and second halves of last year. Over the past two years, a total of 10,000 mud balls have been made and thrown into streams to practice ecosystem restoration.
Mayor Yu Seong-hoon expressed his gratitude, saying, "We appreciate Coway's environmentally loving volunteer activities and ask for continuous efforts for the local community in the future."
