The short film "Standing on the Street," filmed against the backdrop of Daejeon’s original downtown area, has been officially selected for the "Special Screening: Regional Independent Film Showcase" section at the 25th Jeonju International Film Festival.
According to the Daejeon Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency on the 29th, "Standing on the Street" is the first short film by director Kim Gyeongyang, who was born in Daejeon and has participated in the independent film movement. The film portrays the crisis of existence experienced by a female artist facing the loss of her living space due to gentrification, depicting her situation and psychological state as she becomes alienated and excluded even in the area she once considered her settlement.
The film was shot in 2019 around the Daeheung-dong area of Daejeon through the video content production support project of the Daejeon Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency. "Standing on the Street" is scheduled for official screenings and audience discussions on May 6 and 7.
Director Lee Eunhak said, “We are very pleased that the short film supported by the Daejeon Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency has been invited to the official section of the Regional Independent Film Showcase, which was newly established to contribute to the revitalization and development of regional films,” adding, “We will continue to support short films so that excellent works can keep emerging.”
