Dawonsys announced on the 29th that it has won the bid for the 'EMU-150 116-car' project worth 220.8 billion KRW, commissioned by Korea Railroad Corporation.

The EMU-150 mainline electric multiple unit (EMU) is a distributed power vehicle with superior acceleration and deceleration capabilities compared to the existing aging Saemaeul-ho trains it replaces. It offers advantages such as excellent ride comfort and traction. Additionally, it applies a Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) system, making it an EMU with outstanding maintenance and operational efficiency.

A Dawonsys official stated, "The EMU-150 vehicles previously manufactured by Dawonsys are operating under the name 'ITX-Ma-eum,' having started commercial service on the Taebaek Line on September 1 last year. Currently, 25 trainsets (100 cars) have been delivered and are running on seven lines nationwide, providing comfortable and pleasant travel for the public."

He added, "This order is for continuous production of subsequent vehicles, and we will manufacture EMUs with enhanced safety and excellent performance through more skilled technology. It will also serve as a stepping stone to enter next-generation railway vehicles and high-speed trains in the gradually expanding railway market, including GTX."

Meanwhile, with this EMU-150 116-car project order, Dawonsys will manufacture and deliver a total of 474 mainline EMU cars by January 2028.
