"Sanchae Twigim 10,000 Won, Beautiful Festival"... Local Festival Without 'Overcharging Controversy' Gains Attention

Yangpyeong Yongmunsan Wild Vegetable Festival Receives Positive Reviews
"Few Transient Vendors, Many Local Specialty Products"

Unlike several regional festivals recently criticized for 'overcharging controversies,' there is a festival that visitors have praised with satisfying reviews, drawing attention. This is the story of the 'Yangpyeong Yongmunsan Wild Vegetable Festival,' held from the 26th to the 28th at the Yongmunsan tourist site in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province. Now in its 14th year, the festival is said to be based on records such as those in the 'Sejong Sillok Jiriji,' which mention offering local specialties like jujube, stone mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, and reishi mushrooms (jicho) from the Yangpyeong region to the state.

A visitor who attended the festival shared on their social networking service (SNS), "The Wild Vegetable Festival is a beautiful festival. There is no overcharging," adding, "There is a lot of wild vegetable tempura for 10,000 won, and wild vegetable barley rice for 7,000 won." They also mentioned, "There are many samples to try, and plenty to buy like traditional liquor and wild vegetable seedlings." Another visitor said, "I saw this wild vegetable assorted tempura yesterday and came early this morning. The generosity and taste are great. The food has the common feature of using 100% original ingredients without adding anything else."

The 'Yangpyeong Makgeolli Shake,' sold for just 2,000 won, also received attention for cooling down visitors in the hot weather. Additionally, there were positive comments such as, "There are few transient vendors and many local specialties, which is nice," "I bought so many things that my hands were full," and "It was so much fun." Upon hearing this news, netizens responded with comments like, "Because it has already become a famous festival through word of mouth, the parking lot was full even early in the morning," "I want to go too," and "I will definitely go again next year."

Previously, several regional festivals faced 'overcharging controversies' as reviews surfaced about excessively high prices. On the 24th, a post titled 'I will never go to the Tulip Festival again' was uploaded on an online community.

A writer, A, who visited the 'World Tulip Flower Festival' held in Taean, Chungnam, said, "The pajeon (green onion pancake) was 15,000 won, but it felt like it was 95% flour. The tteokbokki was 6,000 won, served in a bowl smaller than a fist, and tasted like it had been made 2 to 3 days ago. The beondegi (silkworm pupae) was 5,000 won but tasted bland as if the pupae were just dissolved in water." A expressed, "I wonder when the seasonal vendors will disappear." However, a festival official stated that the vendor in question was unrelated to the festival.

Earlier, on the 3rd, the quantity of chicken gangjeong sold for 15,000 won at the Gyeongju Cherry Blossom Festival sparked controversy, and on the 2nd, the 10,000 won spicy pork rice bowl sold at the Seoul Yeouido Cherry Blossom Festival was criticized for being excessively expensive relative to its portion size.
