15 Programs Including 1:1 Customized College Admission Counseling with 4,023 Participants... 100% Satisfaction
Dongjak-gu is emerging as a mecca for college admissions by providing tailored services that align with the evolving university entrance exam system, showing remarkable results.
Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Ilha) announced that since the opening of the Dongjak Admissions Support Center (hereafter the Center) in May last year, it has operated a total of 15 programs over one year, serving 4,023 people with a 100% satisfaction rate.
In particular, notable cases include students who were told by private academies that admission to Yonsei University and Korea University was difficult, but after visiting the Center and receiving one-on-one customized consulting, they were able to identify their strengths and receive tailored strategies, ultimately gaining admission to their desired universities.
The Center operates from Tuesday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with key programs including ▲1:1 customized admissions counseling ▲school-visit admissions support ▲one-point special lectures on college entrance ▲guest speaker admissions briefings.
First, the ‘1:1 Customized Admissions Counseling’ is offered continuously, with a total of 1,293 local examinees and parents participating, providing support strategies tailored to each admission type.
Career and academic counseling is provided for 6th-grade elementary to middle school students, while customized university admission counseling is offered for high school students and repeat examinees (N-su students), along with admissions consulting for 3rd-year high school students and N-su students.
One-on-one counseling is also conducted in connection with the ‘Dongjak Saem’ mentoring project. This mentoring program matches university student mentors with students in educational blind spots to strengthen their learning capabilities in major subjects. Mentees also meet current teachers to discuss concerns about career paths and college admissions.
Additionally, the ‘School-Visit Admissions Support Program’ involved 460 students from five local middle schools, allowing them to design academic plans aligned with the newly implemented high school credit system. This year, the program is planned to expand to 17 middle and high schools.
Education experts visit schools to deliver lectures on ▲understanding the high school credit system and changes in university entrance systems ▲guidance on high school selection aligned with the university entrance system.
Furthermore, a total of 370 people participated in 4- and 6-week courses of the ‘One-Point Special Lectures on College Entrance,’ and 600 people attended two sessions of the ‘Guest Speaker Admissions Briefings,’ effectively preparing for the changing university entrance exam system.
This year, various briefings will be held, including a special lecture on university-specific admissions strategies by Lee Young-deok, director of the Dugak Academy Admissions Research Institute, scheduled for June 15.
On the 17th, the district transformed the Shindaebang Nuri Library (2nd-3rd floors), linked with the Dongjak Admissions Support Center (19, Shindaebang 1-da-gil, 4th floor), into a ‘specialized admissions library’ to assist local students with their career paths and college admissions, establishing itself as a standard for public admissions support.
Park Ilha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, stated, “Since the opening of the Dongjak Admissions Support Center, it has established itself as a career and admissions counseling institution that satisfies both students and parents by providing customized admissions support services. We will continue to swiftly prepare for changes in education and build Dongjak as a city of educational value.”
