Nowon-gu '2024 Children's Day Festival' Held... 7-Lane Road Transformed into Playground Wonderland

Nowon-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will hold a festival where the whole family can enjoy together in celebration of Children's Day.

For this event, the district will completely close a road section of about 550 meters from Lotte Department Store to the Full Gospel Church. This is to create a safe and enjoyable space for children to run and play.

The 7-lane road transformed into an amusement park features various themed zones including the main stage for performances, ▲Experience Yard ▲Lawn Yard ▲Safety Yard ▲Play Yard ▲Bubble Party Zone, offering a rich variety of sights and events.

First, performances will begin at 10:30 AM on the main stage in front of Lotte Department Store. Starting with Happy Jun ENT’s Extreme Balloon Show, followed by sing-along shows featuring beloved characters such as ‘Carrie and Friends’, ‘Shinbi Apartment’, and ‘Robocar Poli’, as well as a performance by the ‘Dream Tree Choir & Nowon Soloist Ensemble’.

If you want to enjoy hands-on activities, visit the 'Experience Yard'. You can participate in 15 unique programs prepared by local organizations, including face painting, nail art, toy playgrounds, play experiences, and pottery workshops, all at an affordable fee of up to 3,000 KRW.

The 'Lawn Yard' is set up with outdoor bean bags and shade tents to allow visitors to relax while watching performances or reading in the festive atmosphere. Special photo zones such as the retro-themed ‘Nowon Stationery Store’, Bread Barber Experience Center, Moving Balloon Photo Zone, and Junk Art are also installed.

At the 'Safety Yard', safety experiences tailored to children’s perspectives are provided. Unique activities include trying on police uniforms, riding police motorcycles, learning how to use fire extinguishers, and evacuation training using lightweight partitions, all in collaboration with Nowon Fire Station and Police Station.

The 'Play Yard', which gathers various amusement rides, operates six types including large block play, air bumper cars, mini rail trains, Viking rides, and Dinosaur Mecard air bounce rides. To prepare for large crowds, the district plans to install safety fences for each ride and efficiently separate pedestrian and waiting lines to prevent any accidents.

The 'Bubble Party Zone' is a play area using soap bubbles. It will feature bubble parties inside large bubbles created with bubble machines and foam guns, bubble magic shows that stimulate children’s imagination and creativity, and a ‘Children’s Dance Club’ where kids can enjoy a unique experience dancing to lively music.

Additionally, at the Nowon Children’s Theater, there will be performances including children’s songs, animation medley theater shows, and non-verbal outdoor performances. Throughout the festival venue, a famous cosplay team will hold a parade dressed as Marvel heroes to spark children’s curiosity.

Meanwhile, the district will restrict traffic on Nohae-ro from 10 PM on May 4th until midnight (24:00) on May 5th, the day of the event. A separate safety management plan has been established and reviewed for this event, with prior safety inspections of facilities, and safety and operation staff trained and deployed to ensure thorough safety management.

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “We planned an amusement park on the 7-lane Nohae-ro to create unforgettable memories for children who will lead the future,” and added, “We hope the whole family comes out and has a happy time together.”
