Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) will hold the Seongdong Onmaeul Grand Festival ‘Wagle Wagle’ on May 4th to celebrate the 102nd Children’s Day, providing children with a fun and enjoyable experience.
This year marks the 14th edition of the festival, which is Seongdong’s representative event for the whole family to participate in together, offering a variety of experiences and activities for children to excitedly join and enjoy.
At the experience zone on the north side of the plaza (towards the fountain), 14 diverse booths will be operated, featuring various hands-on activities prepared by local child and youth organizations, such as giant carnations, polar bear felt dolls, family flowerpots, folding fans, traditional games, and global experiences with native speakers.
The play zone on the south side of the plaza, including the central road, will be equipped with five types of air bounces, a Viking ride, bumper cars, a VR truck, spinning cups, and a ball pool (air dome), allowing children to run and play safely without having to visit an amusement park. Performances such as magic shows and bubble shows will also be available to enjoy.
At the Seongdong Youth Center Rainbow Theater, an awards ceremony for ‘Seongdong Children’ will be held. Thirty children who serve as role models in family and school life will be selected through evaluations in various fields such as social skills, creativity, and volunteer cooperation, and will be awarded the Children’s Award.
On the day of the event, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the central road of Wangsimni Plaza will be fully closed to provide children with a safe and exciting opportunity to run and play freely.
Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “We have prepared various enjoyable activities so that children, the future protagonists, can laugh, have fun, and spend happy times to their heart’s content,” adding, “I hope that these precious children, like gifts, will create valuable memories with their families at Wangsimni Plaza.”
