‘Songpa Children Festa’ Held

Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that it will hold the ‘Songpa Children Festa’ at the Peace Plaza within Olympic Park on May 4th in celebration of Children’s Day.

The ‘Songpa Children Festa’ is the largest-ever children’s festival in Songpa-gu, prepared so that the whole family can spend the entire day at Olympic Park enjoying sights, food, and hands-on experiences.

In particular, this Festa was selected for the 2024 Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Private International Cultural Exchange Project, and thus features a variety of performances including those by overseas artistic teams.

First, the Haha Hoho Dance Challenge will be held, allowing talented children to naturally participate and boost the festival’s excitement. At the opening ceremony, the District Youth Symphony Orchestra and the District Boys and Girls Choir will perform an opening show fitting for Children’s Day, marking the start of the festival.

Following this, there will be ▲Magic Bubble Show ▲performances by multicultural overseas art teams such as the Mongolian and Kazakh ‘Aipari Art Troupe,’ providing families with joyful memories.

From 3:30 PM, the main stage will feature the sing-along concert musical ‘Rainbow Fish,’ based on the bestseller that has sold over 30 million copies worldwide. From 5 PM, the ‘Children’s Film Concert’ will present theme songs from cartoons, animations, and movies performed by the Police Symphony Orchestra. Musical actors Kim Seo-young and Jo Ye-seo will sing popular children’s songs to conclude the performances.

Additionally, various play experience zones will be set up to satisfy children’s five senses and add more fun to the festival. From 11 AM, in front of the Peace Plaza, a ‘Play Zone’ with air bounces, mini Viking rides, carousel swings, and road trains, as well as an ‘Experience Zone’ offering bead crafts, eco-bag making, and drawing cap creation, will be operated.

Various food options are also prepared. Passion Gukbap Budae Jjigae will be provided free of charge to children participating in the opening ceremony and experience zones, while food trucks selling churros, cotton candy, and more will operate on a paid basis.

Furthermore, the district has taken thorough measures to ensure all visitors enjoy the festival safely. Approximately 150 safety management personnel, including professionals and volunteers, will be deployed throughout the venue to focus on accident prevention. Especially since many children attend, missing child prevention bands will be provided free of charge, and safety will be secured through the participation of related organizations such as the police and fire stations.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “In celebration of Children’s Day, we have prepared various programs so that families can enjoy a full day of fun and play in the open space of Olympic Park without having to travel far. We hope many will come to enjoy lively performances with their children and create happy memories.”
