HD Hyundai announced that Vice Chairman Jung Ki-sun will attend the 'World Economic Forum Special Meeting' held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on the 28th and 29th as a co-chair, where he plans to discuss global cooperation measures for sustainable growth.
Known as the World Economic Olympics for its prestige and influence, the World Economic Forum is an international private meeting attended by prominent global business leaders, economists, politicians, and journalists, where various solutions to global economic issues and challenges are discussed.
Two regular forums are held annually?winter (Davos, Switzerland) and summer (Dalian and Tianjin, China)?along with special events. This meeting, organized through cooperation between the World Economic Forum and the Saudi government, is the largest conference held outside of the regular forums.
About 900 experts from public and private sectors, international organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), academia, and civil society will participate in this meeting to discuss common challenges that the world must solve to achieve sustainable growth, including ▲enhancing global cooperation ▲seeking inclusive growth ▲addressing energy accessibility imbalances.
Previously, the organizers appointed 16 global leaders representing various fields as co-chairs of the special meeting.
The co-chairs include ▲Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund ▲Darren Woods, Chairman of ExxonMobil ▲Marcus Wallenberg, Chairman of Sweden’s SEB Bank ▲Anna Marks, Chair of Deloitte Global Board ▲Robert Maersk Uggla, Chairman of A.P. Moller-Maersk ▲Amin Nasser, President of Aramco, among others, with Jung Ki-sun being the only Korean.
Vice Chairman Jung Ki-sun also attended the regular forums held in Davos, Switzerland, last year and this January. At this meeting, he plans to explore strategies to realize sustainable development amid the rapidly progressing energy transition and seek cooperation measures with global leaders.
He will also strengthen cooperation related to eco-friendly businesses. Vice Chairman Jung plans to meet with Robert Maersk Uggla, Chairman of A.P. Moller-Maersk, and Amin Nasser, President of Aramco, with whom he has long-standing relationships, to discuss ways to enhance collaboration on eco-friendly ships and hydrogen projects jointly promoted.
Vice Chairman Jung Ki-sun said, “This meeting was organized to address universal economic growth and the imbalance in energy accessibility worldwide. Since HD Hyundai’s future vision also embraces sustainable growth for humanity, we will strive to strengthen global cooperation to create a better future.”
Meanwhile, HD Hyundai has maintained a long-standing cooperative relationship with Saudi Arabia through projects such as the establishment of the IMI (International Maritime Industries) joint shipyard, collaboration with Saudi Aramco on blue ammonia development and distribution and building an eco-friendly hydrogen ecosystem using carbon capture technology, as well as supplying power equipment and construction machinery related to NEOM City.
