Kim Gyo-ung, Chairman of the Korean Medical Association (KMA) Special Committee on Korean Medicine Measures, was elected as the 31st Chairman of the KMA Delegate Assembly.
On the 28th, the KMA Delegate Assembly held the 76th Regular General Assembly and decided this through a delegate vote. The KMA Delegate Assembly is a body that deliberates and resolves the KMA's business plans, budget reviews, and amendments to the articles of association. It cooperates with the executive body of the KMA while also playing a role in checking the executive body.
Out of 246 delegates, 228 participated in the vote. The newly elected Chairman Kim received 132 votes out of 218 valid votes, gaining majority support. Another candidate, Lee Kwang-rae, Chairman of the National Association of Metropolitan and Provincial Medical Associations, received 85 votes. One vote was abstained.
Chairman Kim previously served as Vice President of the Seoul Medical Association and Chairman of the Delegate Assembly, and currently chairs the KMA Special Committee on Korean Medicine Measures. After his election, he said, "The Delegate Assembly will actively support the executive body to perform well," and added, "I will strive to unite all members of the Delegate Assembly as one."
