Gyeonggi-do Supports 300,000 KRW for Exam and Course Fees for Unemployed Youth... Excluding Seongnam-si

Gyeonggi Province will support unemployed youth with up to 300,000 KRW for language and qualification exam fees as well as course fees.

On the 28th, Gyeonggi Province announced that starting from the 2nd of next month, it will accept applications for the ‘Gyeonggi Youth Capacity Building Opportunity Support Project,’ which provides support up to 300,000 KRW per person for not only exam fees but also course fees for unemployed youth, without restrictions on support eligibility, number of exam attempts, course enrollments, or application submissions.

However, Seongnam City has decided not to participate in this project and is therefore excluded.

Gyeonggi-do Supports 300,000 KRW for Exam and Course Fees for Unemployed Youth... Excluding Seongnam-si Gyeonggi Province will support not only the examination fees but also the tuition fees for unemployed youth starting this year.

Eligibility requires residency in the province and being within the youth age range based on birth year according to city or county ordinances as of the support year. Although the project targets unemployed youth, exam fees are supported if the applicant is unemployed at the time of the exam, and course fees are supported if unemployed from the course start date to completion date. Employment status at the time of application does not affect eligibility. Those employed for less than one year in short-term jobs are considered unemployed.

The supported exam fees cover a total of 909 types, including ▲19 language exams ▲545 Korean history and national technical qualifications ▲248 national professional qualifications ▲96 nationally certified private qualifications. Compared to last year, 248 national professional qualifications have been added. Among national professional qualifications, only one type of special automobile license is supported. Course fees must be for subjects related to the supported exam fields and taken at academies registered with the education office under the Academy Act or vocational training facilities. The one type of special license is supported only if the course is taken at automobile driving (professional) academies registered and designated by the city or provincial police agency.

Exam fees will be supported for exams taken from December last year through November this year, and course fees will be supported based on regulations established by June, with applications accepted starting in July.

The application period for exam fees is from May to November, and for course fees from July to November. However, since the application period for course fees varies by city or county, applicants should check announcements from their local government.

Applications can be submitted through the Gyeonggi Job Foundation’s integrated application system ‘Jobaba Apply’ (apply.jobaba.net).

Gyeonggi Province will invest 4.4 billion KRW in this year’s project conducted as a city-county matching project. The number of beneficiaries is estimated to be around 24,300.
