This K-Tourism Roadshow was an event promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization to expand momentum for the ‘post-1 million era’ following the milestone of surpassing 1 million inbound tourists from the US in 2023, with 130 domestic and international tourism industry officials participating.

Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation focused on promoting travel products sold by Gyeongbuk’s overseas dedicated travel agencies, Gyeongbuk’s unique tourist destinations, and incentive support policies.

During the special inbound tourism workshop, a presentation titled ‘The Most Korean Gyeongsangbuk-do’ was delivered, receiving great response.

This aligned with the core theme of the K-Tourism Roadshow, ‘To Korea, where K-Culture Begins,’ providing an opportunity to introduce Gyeongbuk’s traditions and culture to the local industry in the western United States.

During the subsequent networking session, participants and related organizations strengthened networking and discussed plans for joint promotional marketing.

Separately, prior to participating in the roadshow, Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation held meetings with Korean-operated local travel agencies in the US such as Pureun Tour, US Aju Tour, and Dawon Tour to gather opinions on local tourism market trends and discussed Gyeongbuk travel courses, including adding a President Park Chung-hee course to homeland visit products targeting the Korean diaspora.

Kim Nam-il, President of Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation, said, “This event served as an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the LA International Gyeongbuk Tourism Industry Exchange Exhibition promoted by the corporation last year,” adding, “Going forward, the corporation will continue to strengthen networks with local outbound travel agencies to create synergy effects.”

From October 12 to 15 last year, Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation operated a Gyeongbuk tourism promotion hall and experience center at the LA Seoul International Park in conjunction with the LA Korean Festival during the LA International Gyeongbuk Tourism Industry Exchange Exhibition to promote Gyeongbuk tourism.

The LA Korean Festival is a representative regional festival in LA attracting over 300,000 visitors annually and is currently known as the largest comprehensive cultural and arts festival in the overseas Korean community.
