KT Launches Three 5G Welcome Plans for Foreigners Starting at 39,000 KRW

KT will launch three new '5G Welcome Plans' for foreigners residing in Korea on the 29th.

On the 28th, KT announced the release of three foreigner-exclusive plans: 5G Welcome 5 (59,000 KRW/month · 5GB + 5Mbps), 5G Welcome 3 (49,000 KRW/month · 3GB + 3Mbps), and 5G Welcome 1 (39,000 KRW/month · 1GB + 1Mbps).

Considering that foreigners mainly use data communication rather than voice calls or texts, the plans feature enhanced data speeds for continued use after the basic data allowance is exhausted. With a 25% optional contract discount applied, the '5G Welcome 1' plan can be used for just over 20,000 KRW per month.

Benefits for calls to home countries have also been strengthened. The '001 Free' add-on service (5,500 KRW/month), which allows the use of 001 international calls within the domestic voice call basic allowance, is provided free of charge. The 001 Free service covers 38 major countries including China, Vietnam, and the United States.

Foreigners residing in Korea with a foreigner registration card can subscribe to the 5G Welcome Plans at KT stores nationwide and the official online channel KT.com until October 31.

To commemorate the launch of the plans, KT will run a promotion until October offering upgraded data speeds and increased basic data for subscribers.

The '5G Welcome 1' plan will upgrade data speed from 1Mbps to a maximum of 3Mbps, allowing HD-quality video streaming after the basic data is used. The '5G Welcome 3' plan will upgrade from 3Mbps to a maximum of 5Mbps, enabling FHD-quality video streaming. The '5G Welcome 5' plan will provide a total of 25GB data by adding an extra 20GB to the basic 5GB.

Additionally, to reduce the remittance fee burden for foreign workers, two free overseas remittance fee coupons usable on the overseas remittance application (app) Hanpass will be provided monthly.
