"Sharing Space, Sharing Depth" is a performance where media art and contemporary music can be seen on one stage. It is a convergence cultural project to mark the reopening of the museum and to announce its leap toward a future-oriented museum.

This event will be the last opportunity to see the main building of the museum, which has been closed since last December for renovation.

Additionally, supported by "BIMAEN" (Busan Museum of Art Supporters Association) and the Busan Mecenat Association, the event is expected to share the value and meaning of art sponsorship.

This performance, together with the "Hwaeum Chamber Orchestra," will present new works by four composers inspired by the media artwork "Hyperrealism" by artist Jeon Junho, part of the BMA collection, through an ensemble of violin, viola, cello, double bass, clarinet, and ajaeng.

"Hyperrealism" is a media artwork created based on the sculpture "Statue of Brothers" located at the Yongsan War Memorial. It depicts two brothers who, after a long separation, do not share an emotional reunion but instead dance a waltz embracing the void, revealing the reality we face as a divided nation and our hope for reconciliation.

The first piece is "Who Am I, Where Am I" composed by An Seongmin, featuring violist Erwan Richa and cellist Jo Hyeongjun in collaboration. The two instruments play scales that cannot be shared together, expressing the reality of brothers raised in one family who lost what they could share after division.

The second piece is "Walk for Violin and Viola" by composer Han Daeseop. Violinist Kim Jiyoon and violist Erwan Richa portray the brothers' waltz from "Hyperrealism" through repeated and varied rhythmic patterns, conveying the brothers' inner pain with dark and ambiguous tonal relationships.

The third piece is "hin und her Ⅳ" composed by Bae Dongjin. Violinist Kim Jiyoon, violist Erwan Richa, and clarinetist Moon Seungju perform this piece featuring two equal yet opposing scales, inviting the audience to imagine the emotions the brothers might have felt.

The final piece is "Soldiers in White-Ground" for ajaeng, cello, and double bass by composer Jang Seokjin, performed by ajaeng player Kim Sanghoon, cellist Jo Hyeongjun, and double bassist Bae Gitae. The combination of Korean traditional string instrument and Western string instruments expresses similar yet distinct timbres, creating a mysterious and poignant atmosphere.

Any citizens interested in the performance can attend free of charge. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for 80 people starting from the 29th on the museum’s website.
