Training Resident Conflict Mediators Capable of Resolving Various Conflicts to Reduce Social Costs from Disputes -
Recruiting 40 Participants from April 22 to May 24... Training Schedule: June 5 to 26, Every Wednesday 2-5 PM
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) is conducting training to cultivate resident conflict mediators for residents interested in resolving conflicts arising in daily life, and is recruiting 40 trainees until May 24.
Conflicts between neighbors are increasing, such as noise between floors and smoking in apartment complexes, and parking issues on private property, as well as frequent clashes of differing interests in public project approval debates.
The district is training resident conflict mediators to help resolve these conflicts that cannot be managed by administrative power alone. It is expected that residents familiar with local circumstances will directly mediate conflicts, resolve them amicably, and reduce social costs caused by disputes.
Any resident aged 19 or older who wants to learn conflict resolution methods can apply.
The training will take place every Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Culture Engine (Seolleung-ro 90-gil 64) from June 5 to 26. Conflict management experts from the Korea Conflict Resolution Center will teach ▲ basic understanding of conflicts ▲ roles of resident conflict mediators ▲ mediation principles and processes ▲ case sharing and application ▲ detailed skills and practice for neighbor conflict mediation.
For detailed information on the training schedule and recruitment, please refer to the public notices on the district office website or contact the Open Civil Complaints Team of the Audit Department.
Trainees who complete the entire course will be given opportunities to participate in various conflict resolution processes in the mid to long term. The district plans to establish a system to cultivate local conflict resolution experts by enabling them to participate in listening to and coordinating residents' opinions on district projects with potential conflicts.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “As conflicts newly arise due to social changes, the need for conflict management within the local community is increasing. We will support residents to enhance their conflict resolution capabilities and effectively prevent and manage increasingly complex and diverse public conflicts.”
