Shinhan Financial Group announced on the 28th that it conducted a volunteer activity to improve the living environment for multi-child families as the second project of the ‘Leading by Example Relay’ on the afternoon of the 26th in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. The second campaign of the Leading by Example Relay was selected as ‘Support for vulnerable groups to solve the low birthrate problem’ through an employee idea contest held in February. In March, approximately 80 million KRW was raised through employee donations to implement the selected idea, and combined with the group’s donation, a total of 150 million KRW was pledged to support Good Neighbors.

On the day, about 20 employees including Jin Ok-dong, Chairman of Shinhan Financial Group, visited a multi-child family in Gangseo-gu and carried out volunteer activities to improve the living environment, such as organizing the environment for children’s health and safety, replacing old wallpaper, and repairing window screens. Starting with this volunteer activity, the group’s CEOs and employees will continue projects to create child-friendly living environments, including renovating living spaces for study, and supporting old furniture and home appliances.

In addition, Shinhan Financial employees are participating in various volunteer activities to address the low birthrate issue, such as ‘making sleep vests’ to regulate newborns’ body temperature, and ‘producing kits to support expectant and new mothers’ containing prenatal vitamins and various childcare products.

Chairman Jin Ok-dong said, “It was a very rewarding time to be able to create a more comfortable and safe environment for children through today’s volunteer activity,” and added, “Shinhan Financial will continue to pay attention to multi-child and childbirth families and will spare no effort to provide various support to help solve the low birthrate problem.”
